The 1970 American League Cy Young Award winner is from Cleveland this year. Rich Beck put together impressive numbers on the mound this season. Rich has a record of 22-13 this season, with an ERA of 2.05. In 334.1 Innings he was able to strike out 233 batters. He has 18 complete games and 7 shutouts. He's 5th in the American League in ERA and 3rd in wins! Don Drysdale will never forget this year. His dominating season convinced the National League to name St. Louis' right-hander the Cy Young Award winner of 1970. Don has a record of 29-9 this season, with an ERA of 1.22. In 338.1 Innings he was able to strike out 379 batters. He has 31 complete games and 14 shutouts. He's 1st in the National League in ERA and 1st in wins! Detroit's shortstop Pete Rose Sr. had a fabulous season, no doubt about it. The American League shared this opinion and names the 29 year old the Most Valuable Player Award winner! Pete has gone 220 for 577 (.381) this season, hitting 45 taters and driving in 125 runs. He has scored 140 runs on his own. He's 1st in the American League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 2nd in RBI! Rose Sr. wins the award for the 2nd time in his 7-year career. Los Angeles (N)'s rightfielder Roberto Clemente will never forget this day as well. A great season convinced the voters that he is the worthy National League Most Valuable Player Award winner. His season features a batting average of .296 (175 hits in 592 AB), 32 doubles, 5 triples and 34 bombs. Clemente collected 117 RBI and 111 runs as well. He's 8th in the National League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 1st in RBI! Clemente wins the award for the 5th time in his 15-year career.

Kansas City's centerfielder Bobby Tolan has worked hard to reach the big leagues. His work paid off today as the American League named him the Rookie of the Year Award winner! Bobby is hitting .283 this year, with 147 hits in 519 at bats. He has driven in 69 runs, slugging .447. The 1970 National League Rookie of the Year Award winner is from Chicago (N) this season. Richie Zisk put together impressive numbers for a rookie en route to win the first major award of his career. Let's hope more will follow for this 21 year old ballplayer. Richie is hitting .260 this year, with 98 hits in 377 at bats. He has driven in 60 runs, slugging .432.
