Originally in the GABL, we did not permit draft pick trading. Eventually, the league decided to permit it, but only for the upcoming draft. The BBSBL permits up to three (3) years of draft picks to be traded. All options have pros and cons.

I think any more than the next draft leads to franchises that are in the gutter, and have no way out. This is something I feel more strongly about, that it should be no more than the next draft.

I agree that it can lead to trouble, and I'm honestly kind of indifferent on the issue so I'm good with whatever, but I don't think we need to avoid it in order to protect GMs. I've seen a lot of GMs be very successful with trading away their next 3 picks and never had any issues down the road. If we want to go with 1 season because it's closer to real life, then that's cool. I don't think we need to hold any hands in this league though.

Well, it's not so much to protect the GM, it's to protect the league, and future GM's. I've just seen too many times over the years where a team wants to win SO badly that they mortgage their future, and end up running the team into the ground, before quitting. That isn't good for the league, and isn't good for the next owner of that team. I agree their are owners that can operate that way effectively, I've just always preferred to avoid the negative. And besides, if we're trying to make the league realistic, MLB doesn't even allow trading of picks or picked players for a year. So I'd say allowing current draft picks to be moved is already on the lenient side.

I actually liked the no trading of picks GABL used to have. Just don't make it possible for picks further than oen draft if allowed (which most people seem to want anyway).

We are going to go with permitting the trade of draft picks, for the upcoming year only. Thank you for voting! Locked.
