Friday 7/22/1974: Mike Rogodzinski socks five hits for Detroit
TEXAS - Detroit's centerfielder Mike Rogodzinski once again displayed his tremendous ability to make contact with that little white ball. He tore up Texas' pitching staff with a 5 hit performance on Friday. His 1st hit was a two-run double off Joe Verbanic in the 1st inning. His 2nd hit, a three-run homerun off Joe Verbanic in the 2nd inning, landed an estimated 440 feet from home plate. His 4th hit was a RBI double off Mike Garman in the 5th inning. He collected singles in the 4th and in the 8th inning . Mike scored 2 runs, and he collected 6 RBI as well! This season has been a good one for him so far, as he has 125 hits in 373 at bats, resulting in a .335 batting average. The final score of the game was 13-5.
Friday 7/22/1974: Dick Allen collects five hits against Chicago (A)
CHICAGO (A) - Dick Allen hits 'em where they ain't. Chicago (A) certainly agrees as New York (A)'s centerfielder unloaded five hits, adding to his reputation of being one of the best pure hitters in the game. A pitch from Mike G. Marshall in the 1st inning left his bat for a RBI double. Number 4 in the 7th inning accounted for a RBI double. A 461 foot drive to left-center marked his 5th hit, a solo homerun off Larry Miller in the 11th inning. He collected singles in the 3rd inning and in the 5th . Dick did drive in 3 while scoring 2 runs on his own. He's having a very good season so far, batting .358. New York (A) scored 9 runs on 17 hits.
Tuesday 7/19/1974: Phil Regan out for 9-10 weeks
CHICAGO (A) - Chicago (A)'s ace Phil Regan suffered a severe injury on Tuesday and will be out for at least 9-10 weeks. In the 1st of the game against Detroit he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. Broken Elbow was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. Opposing players hit .270 against Phil this season. While posting an ERA of 4.85 he went 6-5 in 18 starts, fanning 48 and walking 41 hitters. Phil has pitched one shutout and one complete game.

The American League Player of the Week award goes to Dick Allen, New York (A)'s starting centerfielder. Dick went 14 for 27 (.519), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 12 RBI. Dick has gone 116 for 332 (.349) this season, hitting 18 taters and driving in 59 runs. He has scored 73 runs on his own. He's 2nd in the American League in batting! It's the 4th time that the National League Player of the Week award goes to New York (N)'s first baseman Dick Dietz. Dick was on fire, hitting .423 with 4 HR and 7 RBI. Dietz has hit for a .258 average this season. He has 30 extra base hits along with 152 total bases, resulting in a .462 slugging percentage.
