Following buying the Braves Jan 6 of this year Ted Turner announces that he has hired a new GM that will have complete control over all team operations; brianh. Ted said he needed someone to come in and take over the team that was grossly over budget and did so without admitting what everyone in the sporting world knew, had no chance of winning it all, any time soon.
Earlier today Ted Turner was quoted saying "Everyone should know, it is my intention to bring titles to Atlanta, the town that I love and is headquarters to my company Turner Broadcasting Systems, and in the near future Braves games will be offered on WTCG. brianh is part of my plan to insure the Braves become a dominant team. As some will remember he had a brief tenure in the league before and was instrumental in helping the Indians to a 100+ win season in 69. I know with his patience, the Braves will become a team of destiny" during a charity event that he was hosting.
According to some credible sources, there has already been some back office wheeling and dealing going on between the new GM and other teams. One sources went as far as to indicate there may be a press conference in the near future as a deal may have been struck to bring a youngster in that could be the face of the Braves for years to come.
Outside Turner field I managed to get brianh to comment on any perspective trades "I'm a guy that believes in growing the farm system and being loyal to the players I have, however we will have to make some moves to get this team financially viable again."

It takes effort to write something, so I usually go 3 min. 4 for more words ... 5 for a lot + pics

While mine are hardly pultzer prize winning, I hope me acting as Pete Van Wiener (he shared the booth with Skip for all the WTCG and WTBS broadcasts of the braves in the late 70's - early 90's) is at least somewhat entertaining for ya all. Hopefully my spam will inspire more people to posts some stuff here Since I can only accrue 3 more points this season via articles, I guess I shall wait till Atl is bounced from the playoffs to do the last write up.

I used to do articles all the time, but got bored of coming up with creative topics because I always aimed for the full 5 points per article. Before I knew it, I'd spend 2-3 hours on an article for 5 points and after a while, I had less time and interest.
My points budget has been fine for ages too, but in case I go broke, I will ramp up articles again. Might do one soon once Torre gets 2,500 hits. Huge accomplishment for a catcher and he was the 1st player I ever drafted, so that will be very special to my team in its short, but exciting history.
If anything, points are easier to earn now than in the past, so that's probably the #1 reason why articles don't happen as much, at least the way I see it.

yeah, your articles are the reason I never did them elsewhere... you'd have these damn essay type articles, and I thought that was what was needed to get anything now just doing these little blurbs that satisfy my outlet to use the meager creative ability that I do possess.

Debating removing the limit of article points and/or changing the article reward system (maybe min. 3, then depending on quality and content, scaled on 3, 5, 7, 10 system).

I like the idea of the higher "paid" articles as the "Shale" style articles should be worth far more than the blurb style I do. If the ability to accrue more points was made available I would continue spamming articles from the team / era, as... welllll I spent a crap ton of time religiously watching the Braves on WTCG/WTBS from 79-85 and then loyally through 90 ...

Agreed. Shale's articles are fantastic and 5 points, looking back on it, was very meager. In fact, I will gift Shale 10 points right now.

How about at least doubling or trippling the possible points to 50 - 75 for a season and do the new scoring 10 - 5 - 3. The amazing articles get 10, the blurbs get 3 and the really good blurbs gets 5? test that for a season, and see? WTCG sportscaster P VW is itching to start his weekly rundowns

I would assume after this time passage all is well now?
