SP Pat Dobson was named starter for the NL in the All Star game, and promptly had his worst outing of the season. Giving up 2 ER in 3 innings, thankfully not only did it not count, but the NL went on to stop the AL.
Also notable was the addition of 2B Syd O'Brian making the team for the first time in his career. Even though Syd was clearly the best 2b on the team, he didn't even get one plate appearance. Such travesties however are still bound to happen when unscrupulous managers are allowed to play favorites.
