SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco's Richie Hebner suffered a serious injury Saturday in a game against New York (N). Hebner fell down while running the bases and couldn't get up without help. He will miss probably 7 weeks. Inflamed Anterior Cruciate Ligament was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. Richie is hitting .312 this year, with 115 hits in 369 at bats. He has driven in 89 runs, slugging .615. He's 9th in the National League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 1st in RBI!
Friday 7/29/1977: Jim Bibby quiets Los Angeles (N) bats with shutout
LOS ANGELES (N) - Philadelphia's right-hander Jim Bibby is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Los Angeles (N) on just 2 hits. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 20th time he has done it in his career. With no outs in the 5th inning Ed Herrmann doubled to break up the no-hitter. Bibby (11-7) was overpowering, fanning 11 while walking 2, throwing 106 pitches. 'I was hitting my spots. Now I'll start concentrating on my next start, and hopefully it will work again.' Ed Goodson helped Bibby at the plate, he stroked 2 hits in 5 AB, scoring three times. Philadelphia improved its record to 43-60, scoring 14 runs on 16 hits.
Friday 7/29/1977: Mike Rogodzinski (BOS) will miss 5-6 weeks
BOSTON - Boston's Mike Rogodzinski suffered a serious injury Friday in a game against Minnesota. Rogodzinski fell down while running the bases and couldn't get up without help. He will miss probably 5-6 weeks. Broken Foot was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. Rogodzinski has hit for a .297 average this season. He has 40 extra base hits along with 204 total bases, resulting in a .535 slugging percentage. He's 6th in the American League in RBIs and 7th in homeruns!

MINNESOTA - Minnesota's John Orsino showed a smile on his face after he got his 2000th career hit against Baltimore on Wednesday. With two outs in the 7th inning, John drilled a single, causing a standing ovation from the crowd. In 14 years of big league action so far, John has compiled a batting average of .261, along with 292 homeruns and 1137 RBI. 'I'm out of words. I'll probably realize it tomorrow, but for now I'm done.'

He began limping and then fell down, causing a scary moment for his teammates. He had to be carried off the field. After being taken to a local hospital, Bumbry was examined by specialists.
