With the season over lets look around the field and see how the starters fared. Boog Powell, Third BaseBoog's followed up his 76 all star year with an even better offensive performance, including 28 HR's (team high), 89 runs and 82 rbi's and recorded his 2000th hit in August. He looks like there is no slowing down in this guy and certainly he will be back in 78 with the same constancy at the plate Syd O'Brien, Second BaseSyd was an off season pickup that made the NL all-stars his first season with the Braves as he was a machine at the plate, batting .317 for the season with 19 HR, 92 RBIs and 68 runs. A keen eye at the plate, he had almost as many BB as SOs, and had 5 hits in one game. Syd is signed through 79, so baring something unusual, we'll be seeing him for the next couple years. Larry Bowa, ShortstopLarry had another stellar year defensively keeping balls in the infield that would have passed many a shortstop based on his incredible range. At the plate he batted 15 points above his career avg and had the highest batting avg of his career. With his speed, he easily swiped 40 bases while only being caught 9 times. Bob Robertson, First BaseBob, just goes out and does his job day after day. A workhorse that is easily taken for granted, he goes out and constantly performs. He finished the season with a 274 avg, 17 HRs, 86 RBIs and 89 Runs
