The pool isn't done yet, but I would be surprised if I find anyone cracking the top 10 when I do the relievers tonight / tomorrow. So, I figure I post this just to get a head start.
Anyone considering reservations can refer to the list below; if there is a non-top 10 player you are considering reserving, let me know. A couple players split time pretty evenly between teams, so I based it on their WAR with each team --- like Davis and Ojeda.
You guys have until SATURDAY NIGHT to reserve a player!
Potential Reservations:
1. 2B Ryne Sandberg (CHN) 2. SS Julio Franco (CLE) 3. SP Dave Stieb (TOR) 4. SS Cal Ripken (BAL) 5. CF Chili Davis (CAL) 6. CF Kirk Gibson (DET) 7. 3B Bob Horner (ATL) 8. SP Mike Boddicker (BAL) 9. SP Bob Ojeda (NYN) 10. SP Dave Dravecky (SDG)

I think I'll reserve Steib.
So the cost is my first and second + 17 points + however many WAR points, right?

OK, so for Stieb, it would be:
10 + (7.9 + 7.7 + 7.0 + 6.9 + 5.8 = 35.3 * 2 = 70.6 = 71) + (11th overall pick minus 3rd overall ranking = 8) = 89 points
Given that you are "jumping" 8 picks, you would USE your 1st round pick to select him and FORFEIT your 2nd round pick.

If I were running the Jays I'd wait on Delgado and halladay but Stieb is a legit choice too.

Not sure how the game works with positions, but Delgado originally came up as a catcher.

I'll be reserving Sandberg. Can you figure the points for me please?

Sure! You have 120 points in the FPR bank. Ryne is rated #1 and your earliest pick is the 19th pick.
Cost is: 10 + (8.5 + 7.8 + 7.1 + 7.0 + 6.1 = 36.5 * 2 = 73) + (19 - 1 = 18 = 101 pts By "jumping" 18 slots, you forfeit your 2nd and 3rd round picks.
You will have 19 points left in the bank, which won't let you do much until the 2000s. Not sure you'll have enough for Kerry Wood or Kris Bryant or something, but you should look into that if that interests you.

I'm not worried about Kerry and I'll take my chances on KB. I will have some points coming back on Fergie's longevity on my team, correct? I am reserving Ryne.

Yeah I know he was a catcher but he got moved off it right away. Same way Jayson Werth was a catcher but I don't think he played a single big league game at the position.

My new favorite drink the last year or so is Tito's vodka with Lipton Diet Green Tea Citrus flavored. It is FANTASTIC. Think I will.
