Since the fans began calling for the ousting of GM/Owner/Manager Jamieson the team has responded by going 11-4 and taking an anything but commanding lead in the AL East. The next 20 days will tell a story that can either be the prelogue to Baltimore's first HOFFBL playoff appearance (from what my statisticians say) or another typical late season collapse by the orange birds.
Jamieson continued to add pitching pieces right up to the trade deadline adding pitcher Ken Brett and inserting him into the number 4 starting pitching slot of a truncated rotation for a span of 2 sims that saw the team with 3 off days. "Lemancyzk has been called back up to the majors to take over the 5th spot in the rotation moving forward. SS Jim Barbieri has been sent down so we don't have to mess with the chemistry of a bull pen that has seen success in the last couple of series."
The Orioles front office has been pleased with the turnaround of late but know that the August scheduling does not leave them time to rest on their laurels, or simply rest at all. The team will travel to New York after what is anticipated to be a grueling season against the division leading Angels, get a rest day to travel to Boston and then back home to play Seattle, then back on the plane again to go back to Boston. "With a 2 game lead in the division the team knows these 8 games against Boston will be enormous. Cy Young candidate, looks to be healthy headed into the first game in Boston and that could change the outlook of the series. I anticipate we can count on a few outfielders running into the wall at Fenway but them getting Reynolds back is big for them. He is going to be tough to beat every time he is on the mound. The best we can hope for is he might be a little rusty not having thrown in a while. We think if we can turn it into a run scoring fest we have the upper hand."
While the outcome is still unknown, you can bet that fans will be clamoring for these tickets, time at work will be missed, and there will be a playoff atmosphere when the Orioles and Red Sox play 8 times over the next 2 sims!
