I wasn't quite sure where to put this, so I'm posting it here. Not doing it for points, so excuse the lack of commentary! Chris is the only one here who knows me, but one of the things he could tell you about me is that I'm a huge baseball card collector. A few weeks ago, I was at a card show searching through a box of commons that the guy was selling 100 for $1, and came across a Dan Driessen card. Since he is in my HOFFL farm system, I took notice. While flipping through the cards, I found a bunch more players from my system, so I picked them up. Since the cards are from the 80s, most of these guys are prospects instead of my current stars. And besides, I'm probably not getting a Mike Schmidt card for $0.01!
Chet Lemon
#1 prospect, even though he's spent the entire season in the majors, basically splitting OF time 4 ways.
Jack Morris
#2 prospect has also spent the full season in the majors as the #4 starter, going 12-10, with a 3.64 ERA in 25 starts.
Mike Norris
#3 prospect has gotten completely lit up in his brief call ups, with a career ERA of over 7.00 in 13 starts. His card states that he threw a shutout in his MLB debut, so real life is winning right now.
Dickie Thon
#6 prospect and 1st round 1977 draft pick, had a good season in AA.
Tony Phillips
#8 prospect and 1st round 1978 draft pick, had a .445 OBP in A-ball this season.
Steve Bedrosian
Second round pick in 1978 draft, went from A to AA to AAA in his debut season, racking up 25 total saves.
Ross Baumgarten
Second round pick in the 1977 draft, putting up average numbers in AAA.
Dan Driessen
No idea where he came from, but he's been putting up consistent .320/.420 AVG/OBP numbers in AAA for 5 seasons now, but I can't fit him in at the major league level. His card suggest he comes from a sports family, with Gerald Perry being his nephew and having a cousin on the Raiders.
And finally, I didn't pick this up at the show, but I recently picked it up for an autograph set that I'm working on.
I hope any collectors in here enjoyed that!
