Well Braves fans we have to admit, we didn't see Atlanta finishing under 500 as a possibility at the beginning of the season, and all sports writers had them easily winning the division, alas that wasn't how September ended up for the faithful fans.
Now on the plus side, marketing can take the day off as they were masters at getting fans into the stadium, and not only was the season high attendance record broke... it was shattered. Previously the high water mark had been 3.6 million, and in 1978 4.1 million showed up. Every day looked like this from the blimps regularly in town...
While the regular season didn't end as us fans would have liked, there was plenty to celebrate via the amazing rookies this year, and if the minors are any indication, soon more rookies will be coming to the show.
The Braves had the third best team in triple A, the 2nd best in double A and fifth in single A.
I think it's a forgone conclusions, M Wilson and D Murphy will be in the outfield next year for the Braves
Most also say it'll be a surprise if Fred Breining doesn't get the call up in addition to the OF's
With their current payroll at 38 million and they are shedding 3 million in not resigning some players, the Braves are going to have a LOT of money for any perspective free agent. With Dobson getting older, people are hoping they can find a young stud to replace him with.
The expansion of the seating will be completed next year, so even more brave fans will be able to enjoy all things Braves baseball.
We hope to see you at the ball park!
