So baseball fans, here we are with an early look at the playoff chases...
There is the crown team, thee Detroit Tigers, and then the rest...
We'll start with the AL, in the Central it's the Tigers. Outside of their team plane going down, the only question is will they stumble in the playoffs. Give the White Sox some credit though... they do have the second best record in the AL, unfortunately for them, it will only mean a wildcard spot.
In the East, Boston is walking away with the division, a division which all pre season simulations called for it to be another shootout with Baltimore, alas Baltimore seems to have lost their magic...
wtf did they eat beans last night ? ? ? ?
The AL West is tighter than an hobbits doorway with a troll trying to fit through. The Rangers, winners of only 39.6% of their games are just 3 games out of the playoffs with Oakland and the Angels fighting neck and neck with 43 wins each. There is a rumor that NBC is gonna bring Bob Ucer in to call the upcoming series between any of the west teams when they play head to head. Even Seattle with the worst record in baseball (25-76) still can not be eliminated for at minimum an additional 21 games...
In the NL the east and the west the team leaders have a sizable lead on #2, with the resurgent Cubs currently controlling the Central with a 4 game lead. Pittsburgh after a long run at #1 seems to be suffering from age and payroll but still has the 4th best record and the wildcard could come from the central, unless the surprising restocked Giants rain on Pitt's parade.
With a team that had many a trade in the off season and to start this season, the Giants are my surprise pick to be where they are. In the East Pythagoras's curse bites again , Philadelphia is -13, otherwise they would be fighting for the division, and the wildcard would be coming from the east.
Atlanta started the season strong, but seamed to become consistently strong with the addition of Jackson at 1b. Now with they way they have been playing, they seem to actually have a shot of advancing in the playoff instead of being one and done, swept by without even a notice.
San Diego... is San Diego... Running away with the west yet again
