July was a 15-9 month for the Braves, and only off to a 3-2 start in August. As of today's upcoming games 8/8 79 the Braves seem to have quite the balanced team, in that they are not reliant on just one or two players. Of the 11 top 3 categories listed in league standings, the Braves have six different players listed. After being on the top avg list most of the season, RF G Richards has fallen off, so no Brave is on it, OPS, Hitting Streak or ERA. Reggie Jackson is leading the NL with 27 home runes, Dale Murphy is 3rd in the NL with RBI's, and both of them are in the top three in Runs. Gene Richards is leading the NL with 57 Stolen Bases. From the mound, H Parker is 3rd with 15 wins, Doug Corbett is leading the NL with 34 saves and good 'ol Jim McGlothlin is 3rd with 154 K's. The only other team with as much diversity in the NL is San Diego, with 6 players too. Not even the vaulted Tigers have 6. The Braves just traded for Jon Matlack and lets hope new scenery gives him new life as he is 0-3 with a 6.98 ERA over his last 3 games. With Matlack's acquisition the elder statesman of the rotation, Pat Dobson has been moved to the bullpen. Speaking of the guys from the mound, Paul Hartzell has been Jyckle and Hyde this season, either he is untouchable, or he throws batting practice, with not much in between...
