Well baseball fans let's talk about the elite of the elite, the haloed 30/30 club.
So far no one has achieved it yet this year, but the odds on favorites to do so are...
Bob Molinaro, Rightfield, 29 yrs, Chicago White Sox
Currently with 28 HR and 41, unless something horrendous happens Bob will be adding a second consecutive 30/30 year to his stat line. In 78 he had 32 homers and 62 stolen bases. Since hitting the majors Bob is avg 29 homers a season and 65 stolen bases.
The only prospective first timer on the list is:
George Brett, Third Base, Kansas City Royals
Currently with 29 homers and 26 stolen bases Brett shouldn't have any issue getting his first 30/30 season. While not the speediest guy out there, George really knows how to read a pitcher and if they aren't careful holding him, he gets a great jump and an easy stolen base. Since hitting the majors, George has averaged 20 homers and 26 stolen bases a season.
And the last almost guaranteed member of the list, is Mr October himself, Reggie Jackson.
Currently with 31 homers and 27 stolen bases, Reggie looks to add a third 30/30 season to his book of records. He has accomplished it in 78 and 74, so he too would also join Bob with back to back seasons.
For his career Jackson is averaging just shy of 30/30 with 29 stolen bases and 34 dingers per season.
Dale Murphy looked like he also would join the list, but he would have to have a phenomenal end of the season to get to 30 homers
