This is a simple and small rule change to help support Wild Card teams playoff attendance. OOTP5 doesn't recognize that wild card teams are playoff bound it only cares if a team is winning the division and therefore the wild card teams fan interest dives as if they are losing no matter what their record. This is merely a proposal to help that fan interest for the playoffs. it wont help the stretch but thatd be difficult if you dont know what team is in yet. So the rule would make it so Chris would add 5 or 10 FI points (ill leave that up to him) to a max of 90 Fan Interest to the wild card winning team at the end of the season before the playoffs start.

I don't mind it. Maybe the points are based on how many games back they are from division at end of season. So it will vary per team per season.

OK, I will do this. Question is what are the points? I am thinking the number of fan interest points is the number of games back from the division leader, max of 10, to a overall max of 90.

I don't think number of games back would be enough pts. as far as I've seen even if you are a few games back. Your fan interest takes hits

I'd personally like to see it be 10 pts with it going to a max of 90

I think it should only be reversal of loss of fan interest, just hold them steady, as no one else leading the div goes up in fan interest without spending money on promotion days

Snapshot fan interest for potential playoff teams as of 9/1?

10 was just more simple so Chris doesn't have a lot of extra work

10 was just more simple so Chris doesn't have a lot of extra work and as someone that has painstakingly raised my fan interest from 56 to 98? over the last 3 years, and spent a lot to do so, I'm against just handing out free fan interest. I also don't mind checking to give him the number to revert it back too

Maybe you should have voted no. For example. I went from I believe 87 to 76 all while having the wild card all year and winning 100 games this past year.

Have you read my replies, where did I say you shouldn't be protected. I just don't want it to be blanket, as that could end up being a free reward. I already said I was willing to look to see where a team was... under the stipulation of how you have it phrased, even a team that didn't loose any FI or had minimal would end up getting free points... Sorry if I've been too vague for you.

So where are we on this? I did not keep track of fan interest as of 7/31 or 9/1

Currently SD is at 89 and CWS are at 87, they both have lost 4 points of fan interest thus far and should be given back those points at the end of the season (imho)
SD high water mark 93 CWS high water mark 91

Would be happy to get input as to when you think we should get a snapshot of fan interest so that we consistently fix these ratings season to season.

Need to watch it the next couple of seasons to see if it stays consistent.

imho I think teams that finish the season with a better record than one of the playoff teams should also be offered some protection (aka the entire AL central currently cause the Angels are weak ) maybe not the 100% offered to the WC team, but at least 50%
