Well Braves fans, we are now in the 80's and the feeling around the ballpark is electric after making the World Series for the first time in 26 years to close out the 70's. As you know WTCG has changed it call letters to WTBS and you can still tune into all Braves games here and get a rebroadcast in the middle of the night for you night owls that may not have had a chance to watch it live.
For the first time in ages the Braves actually have a better record at home through 34 games, than on the road. The last time they were this good at home, they had a different GM.
In the off season the Braves lost Harry Parker, Billy McCool, Jim McGlothlin, Dan Monzon, and Dick Bosman. Syd O'Brian and Jay Johstone were brought back as free agent signees.
Being brought up from the minors were:
SP D Robinson
early on he has been spectacular going 4-2 in 7 games started with a 2.09 era. This kid will be a star for some years to come, only 22 and already looking like he has the stuff at a major league level.
SP J. Fulgham
John has the stuff and on most teams he would be better than the #5 starter, and he could still develop into an ace caliber player, alas it's on John to make the steps with hard work and training to possibly become one of the elite pitchers in the league. At age 23 he has the decent line of 2-3 and a 3.34 era over 5 starts.
C G. Allenson
Gary is the air apparent for when Yeager ends his time with Atl. While not having the power of Yeager he is every bit as good behind the plate and just as good getting on base. End result though, it seems he will just be a stop gap till Valle comes of age.
2B A. Wiggins
a second rounder from a couple years back, Allen has really developed nicely. He's got the phenomenal speed the team was built around plus as the scouts say, he has incredible range and the soft hands to make him one of the premier second basemen of the league
