Skip Caray:
Well Braves fans, was a tough week, and a tad ominous about the future for our beloved team of misfits, that included them walking in the rain as they exited during a rain delay.. Five of the games were against the Giants and the Padres and in those games the braves were only 2-3, and split the 2 game series against the cards. The next two games are against the padres so we will really see how the NL East leading Braves stack up against the teams that are pretty much shoe ins to end up in the NLDS.
The other reason for trepidation is in two of Matlack last three starts he did not get out of the 4th inning and gave up 11 runs between the two games in a total of 5 1/3 innings. Everyone has down days but he is getting shelled at home giving up 7 of his 8 homers in Fulton County Stadium. Overall he has had 11 quality starts in his 15 games started, but when he lays down, he seems to be throwing batting practice.
Tom Housman was the ray of light for the week as he started 2 games, and the Braves won both, with the Braves only going 1 - 4 with anyone else starting. It's weeks like this that make the coaching staff just want to escape. So if you happen to see Tom out and about and you wish to buy him a drink, apparently he is fond of Pina Coladas.
With that I turn it over to David Allen Jensen, host of WTBS's new "WTBS Evening News"
