The Brooklyn Dodgers have decided to give up their 2nd and 3rd round picks in the upcoming draft, in order to move up to the first spot to take lefthanded starting pitcher, Sandy Koufax. While the price might not seem that high for the near certain ace, team ownership had shown some reluctance to commit to such a move, based in part to only having one draft pick in the first three rounds of last year's draft as well. Luckily, the organizational depth that they inherited when taking over the team was deep enough to make such a move possible. Last year, the Dodgers let another stud starting pitcher, Don Drysdale, pass by, allowing him to be drafted by league rival Pittsburgh. That was something the Dodgers could not allow themselves to do again, as it would give Pittsburgh an amazing future in regards to their staff. Koufax will be 19 years of age when he is drafted in less than 24 hours. Not turning 20 until the end of the season, it is likely Koufax will make his MLB debut at a relatively young age. The Dodgers don't have to rush the young ace, but when he is ready, they will get him up to the major league team, and into the rotation. There, he will likely be paired with fellow lefty Mickey McDermott and young righties Carl Erskine, Bob Milliken, and Glenn Cox. The young lefty's recent HS picture:

Hehe Drysdale/Daniels/Purkey/McBride/Brewer is still a nice future rotation to look forward to
