After one of the most amazing comebacks in the history of the league, erasing a 6 game lead by the Phiily's over the last 3 weeks of the season, the Braves found themselves in the fall classic for a second straight year.
After the first 4 game the series with the Padres was all tied up 2 - 2, and in one of the most colossal meltdowns by a team in the post season ever, the Padres blew a 7-0 lead they took into the 8th inning, eventually falling 10-8 in 12 innings.
The Braves then Squared off against the St Loius Cards and had them on the ropes after taking the first two games on the road, owning home field for the series with 5 games left 3 at home, only needing to win 2. The then decided it was July again, and lost 4 straight.
While pouring champagne on each other in the Cards locker room the recent #1 hit was playing full blast
