Hey Braves fans, Let's run down the best and the brightest of the Braves batters today. Reggie Jackson, aka Mr. October. His nickname is one of sarcasm as he is amazing every month, but October. In 1980, he hit the 40/40 club for the second straight year and third overall in his career. For the fifth time, Jackson lead his respective league in homers. Dale Murphy had a career year for a sophomore, nailing 26 dingers, hitting 276, 93 runs, 82 rbi's and 52 stolen bases. The kid is only going to get better and even though everyone was agast that he was traded for spike, in the long run it was an amazing trade for the Braves. Steve Yeager finally lived up to his offensive predictions and poked 22 homers out of the park to bring home 65 rbi's. He has continued to mature and now is one of the best defensive catchers in the league.. Gene Richards started the season very slow, but then came on like a barn buster only to end up injured for the season right before the playoffs. who knows what kind of difference that ambasodor of bases would have made had he been healthy.
