Pete: Hey Braves fans, it's Skip and Pete here with another wrap up for the last week in Braves baseball.
Well the Braves dipped in wins a bit as Detroit went on a tear, so while the Braves are no longer tied for the best record in baseball, they do have the best record in the NL and now lead the East by 9 games over Philly.
Pete: Hey Skip, guess who is leading the NL in wins?
Skip: Rick Mahler?
Pete: Close, but no, it's still Seaver
Skip: Pete, Have you noticed that while Richie has gone to "sleep" in homers, Reggie has been steadily climbing the list and has 10 of them over the last 6 weeks?
Pete: Yeah Skip I have noticed it, and it's like he has found a fountain of youth, as he is also burning up the base paths and is on pace to have better than 60 for the year.
Skip: The last 7 days have seen the Braves post a paltry 4-3, which in the grand scheme of things was pretty horrendous since it included a 3 game sweep of the Padres, followed by 2 straight losses to the Cards. The 2 straight to the cards doesn't bode well as they were up 2-0 against the cards last year in the NLCS, only to drop 4 straight and be bounced out of the attempt to visit the WS in back to back years, ending the chant at home from the fans to "do it to me one more time"....
