File and pages are up. Next sim is WEDNESDAY evening, a 16-day sim to get us to 7/1/1982; get your exports in by 8:00 PM Eastern.

EXTENSIONS AND TRADE FRENZY ARE OPEN!!! --- Include a 3.0 gold or 4.0 blue star or a 1st rounder and it counts; 10 points for first trade, 5 points for all others; 0 for trading second time with same team. Good until trade deadline and eligible trades will be stickied for Shale to add up.

NEW ROSTER MANAGEMENT RULES effectively immediately:

After the Off-season Free Agency period and prior to the Opening Day Sim, the roster will be subject to the following:

- Any pitcher on major league roster with an Avoiding Runs rating under 5 and any position player where the Hits and Walks ratings add up to under 10, such player is subject to demotion to the bench or AAA and will be replaced with players in the following sequence:
     1) Minor leaguers 26+ having better ratings
     2) Free Agent players having better ratings
     3) All other minor leaguers (prospects) having better ratings
- Beginning June 1 of each season, any team having a winning percentage under .333 will be subject to the above, prior to either weekend sim, and may be any sim generally.

* Starting pitchers considered to have "better ratings" must have a SP duration rating of at least "D" to qualify.
* Every effort will be made to protect top prospects (particularly those under 24) who are not yet ready for major league action.
* Any in-season free agent signing necessary to achieve the above will have the 24-hour waiting period waived; that is, the Commissioner may sign players immediately.
* If a team has no money, the Commissioner will make every effort (re: edits) necessary to force the signings.
* The pitching rotation, depth charts and lineups on the major league roster as well as minor league system will then be auto'd.

Would like 2 volunteers (20 points each season?) to check for me. NL owner to look at the AL teams; AL owner to look at the NL teams. ... Phillies have stepped up for NL. Need an AL team still.

Monday 6/13/1982: Oakland's Hurdle wins Player of the Week award
It's the 1st time that the American League Player of the Week award goes to Oakland's first baseman Clint Hurdle. He hit .647 with 8 RBI and slugged 1.176 in 17 at bats. The Player of the Week award in the National League goes to St. Louis' Jeff Burroughs this time, as the leftfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Burroughs helped his team with an average of .583 and 3 RBI in 24 at bats. Burroughs has hit 3 taters this year while batting .355. He adds 17 doubles, along with 28 runs scored. He's 2nd in the National League in batting!

Sunday 6/12/1982: Danny Darwin shuts out St. Louis on 2 hits
MONTREAL - Montreal's right-hander Danny Darwin will never forget this day. The 26-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 2-hitter, against St. Louis on Sunday. 'I really like to play baseball, and I love the way I was able to play it today.' Darwin (8-5) struck out 3 and issued 1 BB, throwing 60 of 103 pitches for strikes. Montreal's centerfielder Larry Hisle stroked 2 hits in 4 AB, doubling once. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Darwin. Montreal improved its record to 30-36, scoring 2 runs on 7 hits.

I followed all the rules last season and Pittsburgh got to walk into a #1 pick because he didn't have backups all year and I even told you several times they didn't have a full roster. You didn't do anything about it and they got the #1 pick over me because of it. Now this year I'm not breaking those rules and I'm being punished. This is bullshit.

- Benching of 6/4 guy: Not sure who you are talking about. As far as position players, Lundstedt and Wagner were sent to AAA, so if anyone was benched on the major legaue roster, it was because of auto; as I mentioned in the rules, I auto everything after I make the transactions. I'm not micro-managing teams to that degree.
- Wasting money: You're talking about pennies. I signed players to minimum deals (most at MLC, then called up to 300k contracts), you made it seem like I forced you to sign a 5M reliever. You're maxing out at 20M profit still.
- Following rules: Yes, and I'm asking everyone (not just you) to follow said rules, which have been adjusted this season. I do not think they are very substantive at all. As for "fairness", you could say you got to tank without limit 2 seasons ago; Pittsburgh is getting to tank without limit this season.
- Demoted a guy on 1M contract. Not sure who you are talking about, I was looking purely at ratings. As for the 300k difference, see above.
- The pitcher I had for YEARS - I think you're talking about D'Acquisto? Yea, he sucked but at the time, he had a 5 or 6 AR, I forget. He's clearly declined significantly over the past few seasons since you've had him.



This is not about you losing the #1 pick; this is about putting out reasonable lineup/rotation per rules. Everyone is subject to them on Opening Day; the really really BAD teams are looked at throughout the season. I looked at 4 teams, made moves to 3 teams, but BOS/PIT were the ones that saw all of the signings this time around.

All the moves are relative but instead of you losing 135 games, you'll perhaps lose 110 games instead BUT STILL WILL GET THE #1 PICK. It is better for the LEAGUE because then TOR and myself won't get free wins whereas teams are beating up each other in the Central (and the West to a certain degree). I've come to the realization that the uber-tanking teams are affecting the Wild Card races in both leagues.

Breaks post show he's clearly more concerned about not just a HIGH pick, but the overall #1 pick than he is about even trying to field a competitive team, which also should be why the rule is in place. I came in to this year KNOWING I wasn't making the playoffs. I waited to put Cooper on the block this year because he was coming off of a mediocre year, then when he started off good, he got hurt, so I still haven't put him on. I want to maximize my profit. I've called up both Leal and Bordi, even though I KNOW I'm not winning, because they seemed to be better than the garbage pitchers I was throwing out every day. I'm probably going to end up picking somewhere around 10th, but at least I'm not intentionally TRYING to lose.

I'm trying to field the best team as fast as possible. I'm drafting young so it's taking them a bit. My oldest top prospect just turned 23. I'm being forced to sign people because I'm trying to save money that i have none of. Don't tell me what I'm trying to do.

Nobody batted an eye at a guy with a 20 man roster for the whole season but people sure bitched about me fielding a 2/2/2 that had good defense because i had nothing better and i didn't want to spend money.

I didn't bitch. I have a hard enough time keeping up with my own roster let alone everybody else's. Had I seen someone sporting a 20 man roster I would have complained about that too. I just think everyone should do their best to at least field the best team they can, even if that's while rebuilding. I'm totally rebuilding, but I'm still running my best guys out there. I bought an entire bullpen with guys on 1 year deals because I literally had no arms that I thought I could run out there that wouldn't have set the entire house on fire.

As for your team, I didn't have to sign anyone. I think I auto'd minors but there are so many of them.

Only thing I think you need to do is set depth charts. Most of your position players are tired.
