Finally caught up with the sim schedule. File and pages are up. Next sim is tomorrow, SUNDAY, morning, an 8-day sim to get us to 6/9/1983; get your exports in by 7:00 AM Eastern.

Wednesday 6/1/1983: California's Hall earns Pitcher of the Month award
California's Tom Hall had a terrific May, and it earned him the American League Pitcher of the month award. He struck out 22 hitters in his 5 starts, putting together a record of 3-1 while pitching 22 innings. His ERA in May was 0.88. Tom pitched a shutout as well. His ERA of 1.44 helped him to a 7-3 record this year. He struck out 67 and walked 23 in 87.2 innings. Tom has pitched 2 shutouts and 4 complete games. He's 1st in the American League in ERA and 4th in wins! It's the 1st time that the National League Pitcher of the Month award goes to St. Louis' pitcher Vern Ruhle. His ERA of just 0.95 helped him to a 4-0 record in May. He worked 38 innings, striking out 22 hitters while walking 4. In 11 starts this year Vern struck out 52 batters in 83 innings of work. His ERA is 0.87, his record 8-1. Vern has pitched one shutout and 4 complete games. He's 1st in the National League in ERA and 2nd in wins!
Wednesday 6/1/1983: Cleveland's Molitor earns Batter of the Month award
It's the 1st time that the American League Batter of the Month award goes to Cleveland's second baseman Paul Molitor. Molitor helped his team with an average of .430 and 22 RBI in 107 at bats. Molitor has hit for a .372 average this season. He has 26 extra base hits along with 117 total bases, resulting in a .565 slugging percentage. He's 2nd in the American League in batting and 8th in RBI! The National League Batter of the Month award goes to Jeffrey Leonard, San Francisco's starting leftfielder. Jeffrey went 37 for 95 (.389), while hitting 5 HR and collecting 25 RBI. Leonard has walked 7 times this year and posts a .346 OBP. While batting .322, 64 for 199, he has driven in 48 runs. He's 5th in the National League in batting, 4th in homeruns and 1st in RBI!
Tuesday 5/31/1983: Steve Busby (HOU) will miss 5-6 weeks
HOUSTON - When it rains, it pours. Houston's right-hander Steve Busby will not pitch for at least 5-6 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Chicago (N) where he left the field in the 2nd inning. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Spasms Back. Surgery will be performed next week. Steve has a record of 2-4 this season, with an ERA of 3.42. In 52.2 Innings he was able to strike out 32 batters.
Monday 5/30/1983: Molitor and Parker win Player of the Week award
The Player of the Week award in the American League goes to Cleveland's Paul Molitor this time, as the second baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Paul was on fire, hitting .550 with 1 HR and 4 RBI. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 25 games. This year Molitor drove in 36 and scored 33 runs while batting .372 with 5 longballs. He's 2nd in the American League in batting and 6th in RBI! Harry Parker of St. Louis wins his 3rd Player of the Week award for dominating National League's hitters the entire week. Parker was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 1.59. Along the way he struck out 8 in 17 innings. He hurled a shutout as well. In 11 starts this year Harry struck out 49 batters in 88 innings of work. His ERA is 2.15, his record 6-1. Harry has pitched one shutout and 4 complete games.
