Saturday 10/1/1983: Ed Halicki turns in great performance against Boston
TEXAS - Texas' right-hander Ed Halicki is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Boston found out the hard way, getting just one hit. Halicki 1st shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 3rd shutouts in his career. Halicki (10-18) fanned 1 and walked 3, throwing 102 pitches. 'Wow, what a nice day. I guess I had a good breakfast today.' Steve Macko provided Texas with the offense Halicki needed as he collected 2 hits in 5 trips to the plate, hitting a homerun, scoring twice and driving in 3 runs. Texas improved its record to 58-104, scoring 11 runs on 13 hits.
