Today baseball fans, the Braves announced their first member of the Braves Hall of Excellence. The name announced was no surprise to anyone, as it's Mr Brave himself, 'Hammerin Hank Aaron. Hank played in 18 season, with all of them but part of one with the Braves. Sadly in 71 he was traded from the Braves to the Mets and then ended his career playing a handful of games for the Brewers. Milwaukee fans were happy to see him back as he had played for the Braves in Milwaukee for 13 seasons. Sadly for those fans, he was a shell of his former glory and put up the worst stats of his career while playing for the Brewers. Sadly for all of his on field success, in his entire career, never did he get to take home a World Series ring for winning it all. What Hank did do though is set the ceiling for homers, doubles and RBI in a career. He also finished 4th for all time highest avg and was a paltry 107 hit back from the all time leader in total number of hits. One of the most amazing things about Hank was his devotion to the game, and on top of having fun, wanted to thrill all that came to the ballpark with the best he could do. Hank was a member of the 100/100 club 15 times in his career, which you barely see anymore in the modern era of baseball. So please join the Braves organization in welcoming its founding member to the Braves Hall of Excellence, Mr Braves baseball himself... #44 Hank Aaron

The Braves were originally the Boston Braves, so break actually could get away with this more than the other 23 teams aside from his, the Braves and brewers.

Surprised Brian didn’t post a whole set of articles of Hank, Mathews, Joe Adcock, Spahn and the rest of the great Braves of that era getting their numbers retired and what not.
I been wanting to do a mets version of that now that my team has over 20 years of history included, so we’ll see if/when I’ll get around to it. Prob not til I run out of points though.
