The Player of the Week award in the American League goes to Boston's Cecil Cooper this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Cecil was on fire, hitting .545 with 2 HR and 5 RBI. The National League's best player of the week was Houston's Lloyd Moseby, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. Lloyd pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .429 with 2 HR and 6 RBI while slugging .762.
Friday 4/22/1985: Mike Boddicker pitches his 1st shutout of the season
MILWAUKEE - Mike Boddicker had his best stuff going, and Milwaukee hitters had nothing to cheer about. Oakland's right-hander pitched a 2-hitter, his 1st shutout of the season. 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches.' Boddicker (2-3) was overpowering, fanning 10 while walking 1, throwing 95 pitches. Darren Daulton helped Boddicker at the plate, he went 3 for 4, blasting a homerun, stroking a double, and collecting 2 RBI. Oakland scored 7 runs on 10 hits.
