So Braves fans, it was a best of 5 series against the midwest rivals StL Cards. StL came in with a stacked deck hoping to return to 79 fasion and make short work of the Braves. After the Braves won game 1, the Cards stole game 2, giving them the edge heading back to StL for 2 home games.
Fist game in StL the Cards knocked off Atl, 3-2 and only needed one more win to send the Braves packing. Game 4 looked to be the game, when they tied it up in the bottom of the 9th, all momentum was for the series to end in StL. On a wing and a prayer the Braves managed to take the lead back in the 10th and headed back to Atlanta to live another day, which is where Matlack came out and dominated at home in the 5th and deciding game. Even though he had been moved to the bullpen for games 1-4, it seemed John was demanding to not be forgotten yet.
