How many points for Sosa and how does it affect me? Do I have the points? The variables: You have 120 points; Sosa's top 5 WAR = 33.6; You have the 9th; Sosa's ranked 5th The formula: 10 + (33.6 * 2 = 67.2 =) 62 + (9 - 5 =) 4 = 76 So YES, you can do it and will have 44 points left over. You would potentially have 54 points if you keep him for 10 seasons ... 59 points for 15 seasons ... 64 points for 20 seasons. Beginning in 2000, we all get 2 points added each season. |

there is a huge hit trading a franchise reserved player 25*points I think In any case i will only trade if it makes sense....... It really doesn't. You should wait for Vlad (and Pedro if he counts, but he'd probably be a Boston reso) |

Assume I trade for a late first I didn't answer Greeme, so I think I need to postpone closing reservations and start of draft until tonight to give greeme a chance to say yay or nay. The variables: You have 180 points; Alou's top 5 WAR = 22.2; You have no picks in this draft, so it will be a max of 78 The formula: 10 + (22.2 * 2 = 44.4 =) 44 + (Max of) 78 = 132 You can reserve Alou, but it'll cost you 132 points, leaving you 48 points left over and you forfeit all your picks next season. You would potentially have 58 points if you keep him for 10 seasons ... 63 points for 15 seasons ... 68 points for 20 seasons. Beginning in 2000, we all get 2 points added each season. You won't have enough for Vlad. I would only do this for once-in-a-generation talent. Alou is not that. |
