To be fair, John Candelaria was actually the one known as the Candy Man. who are we being fair to? The dude with the actual nickname on his Baseball Reference page as opposed to another pitcher that did not carry that same nickname onto his Baseball Reference page. If you are going to give someone a nickname, Brian, it needs to be officially documented or no one will take it seriously. |

There is no logical reason for doing so. That’s like calling Shaq “the Dream” when that was Hakeem Olajuwon’s nickname or calling Charles Barkley “the mailman” when that was Karl Malone’s nickname. There is only one candy man and it’s not Mr. Candiotti. You’re not gonna win any jersey number or nickname nitpicking contests vs me lol |
