Monday 7/11/1986: Oakland's Parrish wins Player of the Week award
The American League's best player of the week was Oakland's Lance Parrish, who wins the award for the 6th time in his career. He had an on base percentage of .600 and hit .565, while driving in 7 runs. The National League's best player of the week was San Diego's Ray Knight, who wins the award for the 2nd time in his career. Ray pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .556 with 1 HR and 5 RBI while slugging .944.
Thursday 7/7/1986: Doyle Alexander out for 5 weeks
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee is without its right-hander Doyle Alexander for at least 5 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Denny Walling in a game against Cleveland. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Alexander was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Inflamed Rotator Cuff Muscle. In 17 starts this year Doyle struck out 40 batters in 105 innings of work. His ERA is 3.77, his record 8-1.

MONTREAL - Atlanta's players had every reason to congratulate Larvell Blanks, who reached a milestone today, collecting his 2000th career hit! His best year so far was 1976 where he hit .298 with 8 homeruns and 65 RBI. 'I'm out of words. I'll probably realize it tomorrow, but for now I'm done.' With no outs in the 2nd inning, Larvell drilled a single, causing a standing ovation from the crowd.
