Friday 5/6/1987: Steve McCatty fires NO-NO against New York (N)
NEW YORK (N) - San Francisco's right-hander Steve McCatty made some history today, firing a no-hitter against New York (N). Their hitters found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, never having a chance against his overpowering stuff. McCatty (4-0) struck out 4 and walked 6, throwing 63 of 120 pitches for strikes. 'They took some ugly cuts at my breaking stuff, so I kept throwing it. Fortunately they were not able to adjust in time.' Barry Bonds provided San Francisco with the offense McCatty needed as he finished 3 for 5, homering once, doubling once, scoring two runs with 2 RBI. San Francisco scored 8 runs on 11 hits.
Thursday 5/5/1987: Jack Morris shuts out St. Louis on 2 hits
