on the night before opening day, and all through the house... aw fuck it, here's the deal:
Philadelphia Phillies reluctantly part ways with HoFer-to-be LF Ted Williams, receiving SP Paul Minner and CL Bobby Tiefenauer in return.
The emergence of C/OF Joe Lonnett, combined with the departure of SP Robin Roberts to FA, left us in dire need of pitching. This is the best deal we thought we could get as we continue to try to compete every year. The deal should help the pitching staff this year and in the near future, and hopefully we have enough offense and moxxxy to compete with "the Splendid Splinter" as he joins Stan Musial and the gang in StL.
G/l, will re-export...

How in bloody hell is that better than Jack Bloomfield/Earl Wilson/George Kell?
You're not a competing team and you deal for a 34 and 26 year old.

I love when people who lose out on deals publicly bitch about it in the thread reporting the trade. I think we're all capable of running our teams any way we see fit. If he thinks that's the best deal for him, so be it. Let it be. Jeebus.

except my deal was a gross overpay and he takes a deal that makes no sense.

He's not competing and he moves for competing pieces, and one of them is junk.

Agreed. Couldn't pass up the thought of Ted and Stan in the same lineup. Will hopefully get home early tonight and get an export in with this huge change.

He's not competing and he moves for competing pieces, and one of them is junk. The Gur boys like P with B/B ratings in BB/HR. That's probably the deciding factor when they could get two of those.

How in bloody hell is that better than Jack Bloomfield/Earl Wilson/George Kell? You're not a competing team and you deal for a 34 and 26 year old. in the words of Aaliyah, "age ain't nothing but a number" we appreciated your offer, but you made it very clear you weren't willing to offer more, and i indicated right away that a) i appreciated your offer and b) Wilson isn't my kind of player. Yeah, he is young, but age won't make him as good as Minner and Tief. Matt and I exchanged like 5 pages of messages negotiating. If Wilson does get some nice PDs, you are right, it will be silly. I made it abundantly clear that we need pitching, and this is the best pitching we could get for right now.

He's not competing and he moves for competing pieces, and one of them is junk. both clauses in the above statement are a priori assertions that will be proven right or wrong with time... happy trails

just exported with 24 men on roster, leaving room for this 2 for 1:
Please change Minner from MR to SP and put him into the 4-man rotation as the #3 starter. Please make Tiefenauer the closer...
lineups should be good-to-go... sad to see ted go... g/l to all this year
