Pulled back. You can't do that. He's got a big-league contract. You could only do that to minor leaguers who don't have a big-league contract.

Devils Advocate here..... I've seen Teams do this in the past where they send a guy down then can trade him. I believe either KC or the Cubs I'm not about to go through the 1000 trades to find it but it also doesn't state in the rules this isnt allowed.

Seems clear to me. I could have worded this differently to say that "players with a Big League Contract must clear waivers before they are able to be traded to any team or traded to the claiming team." Plus, Gossage was not on a minor league contract.

I doubt many, if any, teams were able to trade this way. I was pretty good with that. Just don't ask me about FPR of Sammy Sosa...

Ok but there were still trades in the past where a guy was sent to the minors then allowed to be dealt. Maybe they slipped thru but I'm 97% sure they happened

In GABL, we allowed a waiver-free trade if the player would accept demotion. However, I am not sure if we allowed it during an active waiver.

Just because a player accepted a demotion, it doesn't mean they did or didn't clear waivers. It's irrelevant.
