Well baseball fans, summer is behind us and the fall is in front, here we are to update the state of who is in, and who is still fighting to hold on.
Aikens for the Dodgers continues to be the gold standard for power, already with 41 on the season, but since his contract extension, Mattingly with the Yankees has been on a tear and now has 36.
Each league has a 20 game winner already with Fulgham achieving it again for the 2 time in his career, and Tanana for Seattle, making it his 3 year straight and 4th of his career.
Cruz for the Tigers continues to blister on the base paths, but at his current rate it loks like he wont achieve 100 steals again this season.
AL
East
The Yankees continue their onslaught against everyone, and and will be the Easts champ.
While we had anointed Boston the WC team, the Tribe has come along and said, eh, we think not and is currently one game ahead of Boston
Central
Kansas City has taken command, what was once a neck and neck battle with the Brew Crew has turned into a 7 game difference and unless the Crew turns it around soon, it will all but be over.
West
Seattle still has a commanding lead at 7 games, but Texas has been winning and now is only 4 game out of the WC chase. While we dont forcast them overtaking Seattle, they could make it interesting for the two teams in the east hoping to get in.
NL
West
Again the most entertaining fight in baseball is in the West. LA has a 1 game lead on the Giants, and we suspect the champ will not be decided till the very last days of the season.
Central
Nothing new here, as the Pirates still have a double digit lead on the Cards.
East
What once was a fight has turned from win or go home to the Braves having a commanding lead over the Mets. The Braves have been winning, and the Mets... not so much
