Well Baseball fans, the Braves pulled the trigger, bringing Julio to town.
Julio is #2 in all time steals and when word was leaked he was heading to Atl, his only comment was, "I'm sad to say goodbye to the people of Detroit that have been rooting me on, but the people of Atl will see me break a record and set it sooooo high, no one else will ever challenge for it."
1988 should see Julio cross the 1000 SB threshold, becoming only the second player to ever do so.
Julio brings to the Braves something they have never had under Skippers reign, and that is a true lead off hitter that has the speed to basically make any appearance at the plate be a double. The oft inured Gene, while just as fast, comparatively speaking struggled at the plate and is a career .256 hitter, but hasn't been that high for an avg since the 81 season.
Julio is the kind of player that has helped Detroit have the best record among all teams since 77
The # 13 rock song of 87... gotta say this was one of my favorite songs of the year, and bought the cassette. Sadly I through away my 120 cassette carrying case years ago. Present day Brian would love to go through it one more time for sentimental reasons
