2B/3B Bill Serena-Free Agent to be, having a nice season, power is AWOL thus far. Not in our long term plans. Will come cheap. Only wants 1.05/3 years which is a relative bargain with his ratings.
2B-Earl Weaver-Tearing it up at AAA, plays great D, decent bat, should be good for a solid OBP/glove if nothing else.
RP-Bob Spicer-AAA pitcher with the highly coveted G/G in homers/walks. Just have guys ready to take his place.
C-Carl Sawatski-Free Agent to be, don't anticipate re-signing him. Hits very well against righties, solid OBP, decent bat, still relatively young. Says he wants to test the market, he's in his peak. I do think he's probably a relatively late developing catcher, which isn't uncommon. Just got Kravitz ready to go.
UT-Vern Morgan-Don't need to move him, but have similar guys at AAA that I could use as bench bats. Morgan is starting for us now in LF, he's hitting really well, but as my guys come up he won't be a starter.
SP-Johnny Schmitz-He will be available at some point this year. I'm certainly in no hurry to move him as my young arms still aren't ready, but keep him in mind if you're wanting to make a playoff push.
RP-Fred Baczewski-Converted to reliever this year after struggling as a starter and has been pretty good as a bullpen lefty. Had to use him to start one game and he struggled, but if you take that game out, decent numbers. I've got a lot of young pitchers that are close. Won't cost much at all.
RP-Paul LaPalme-See above. Was very good for us against lefties last year, started the year slow, but good bullpen lefty.
RP-Cal McLish-Converted to releiver like Baczewski, has been solid this year. I'll need to clear space for some of these young pitchers here pretty quick.
1B-Fred Richards-I'm not sure why I hadn't given him a shot before this. He's always hit in a bench role. Destroying the ball vs. righties. He's one of those guys where the ratings aren't great but the results have been good. Need to clear room for big Norm Cash here shortly.
OF-Vic Wertz-Similar to Schmitz. Not in a hurry to move him, but he'll be moved at some point this year to clear space for Altman.
Couple of AA starters would be available in the right offer. Tsitouris, Toth, Bell primarily.
Don Mincher, Willie Kirkland a couple of decent minor league bats that could be had as well.
