Cubs agree to trade C-Carl Sawatski, 2B-Earl Weaver and 2B-Bill Serena to the Sens in exchange for 1B-Ramiro Caballero, C-Joe Azcue, P-Cholly Naranjo, 3B-Jim Walton and Washington's 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft.
Not a huge return, but I didn't anticipate getting a huge return. We got 3 young guys who have a chance to develop and Caballero fills a hole for us as a platoon 1B for a couple of years probably. Wasn't excited about the pick necessarily as by the time that pick comes up in this years draft the pickings will probably already be pretty slim, but I needed a little something more. Had to clear space for the up and comers.
Chris, please call up Kravitz and make him my starting C vs. both lefties and righties with Fanning subbing 20% of the time vs. both. Place Azcue, Naranjo and Walton in A ball. Don't worry about getting them in to the lineups and rotations, I'll take care of that after the sim. Move Vern Morgan to starting 2B vs. righties. Make Gardner his backup at 5%. Make Gardner the starter at 2B vs. lefties. Call up Regalado from AAA and make him backup at 2B vs. lefties (5%) Make Escalera the starter vs. righties in LF with Rodin his backup (5%). Make Wertz the starter in RF vs. lefties. Make Drake his backup (5%) Put Caballero on the major league roster and make him my starting 1B vs. lefties. Make Gardner his backup (5%). I'm dropping Edwards so Gardner will also become the backup at 3B vs. both lefties and righties (5%).
