Sorry about that. Been an intense 10+ days.
I finished packing up and when it came time to move, all help bailed, but my dad helped move the big furniture. Otherwise, I moved a 3-BR house with a basement full of stuff into a 2-BR apartment and a 10x15 storage unit (filled up) basically all by myself over 2+ days. Physically exhausted and dehydrated (it was in the 80s/90s) and I ended up taking an unplanned 12 hours off from work. On day before closing, I was working on cleaning out basement, forgot about the smoke/fire cert, took care of permit but didn't realize it was an inspection (not just a cert) and panicked. At the same time, found out buyers/flippers didn't want washer and dryer in basement (after I put stuff out for bulk pickup day before). Ended up getting a junk guy the next day to pick up everything, bought and installed smoke/fire, went to closing and get call back from fire inspector who could squeeze me in next day, all the while the buyer/flipper was in house a couple days early to get head start by having their contractor take a look (sold the house as-is for cash offer). Ended up having a good conversation with buyer about things wrong with the place (already in sellers disclosure lol don't worry) and giving advice what to do, where to spend money, etc.
At the rental condo, everything is in boxes and can't find screws to son's bed (lol) and internet would not work for the better part of a week. Turns out the modem I bought (years ago) was no longer compatible after the transfer. Got a new spiffy modem on Friday. This past weekend, went to DC for son's birthday trip (every year, we give him the choice of anywhere he wants to go, provided it is within 3 hour-ish drive). Monday, my parents moved out of the home we built 20+ years ago (Zach's childhood home too), I had to help them clean out, manage movers, and move my autistic brother and their dogs to new house down the Jersey Shore. House is gorgeous, 3 years old, on the water (bayside, not ocean) with view of AC ... and get this, has a freaking elevator. Got my PC up this morning.
All in all, 2 closings less than a week apart, in which my childhood home and my first home are now gone. Emotional, exhausting, but I can tell you I am so relieved to not have that house anymore. No more projects or problems to worry about. HUGE relief. Gonna save up for a year or so and buy a decent/larger house with a yard next year.
And still can't find the screws to son's bed. And his birthday party is this weekend and I have 3 work deadlines, and several memos to write, AAACK.
And with that, 10 points to all for your patience. No, the league isn't going anywhere, but I may consider a backup simmer...
File and pages are up. Next sim is tomorrow, THURSDAY, evening, an 8-day sim to get us to 7/20/1988; get your exports in by 10:00 PM Eastern.
