Friday 7/29/1988: Scott Sanderson turns in great performance against Houston
HOUSTON - Great days are rare. But not for New York (N)'s right-hander Scott Sanderson. Houston found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just one hit. It's his 3rd shutout this season, and the 16th time he has done it in his career. 'I felt early that I was on top of my game. Fortunately I was able to keep that feeling the entire game.' Sanderson (6-6) fanned 8 and walked 3, throwing 126 pitches. The hitting star for New York (N) was leftfielder Floyd Rayford, he finished with 4 hits in 5 AB. New York (N) improved its record to 63-40, scoring 7 runs on 15 hits.
