Chicago (A)'s first baseman Keith Hernandez had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the American League Player of the Week. Keith pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .579 with 1 HR and 3 RBI while slugging .737. Ryne Sandberg from Chicago (N) wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the National League. Ryne went 8 for 24 (.333), while hitting 6 HR and collecting 8 RBI. He now has homered in 4 consecutive games as well! Sandberg has walked 10 times this year and posts a .378 OBP. While batting .292, 21 for 72, he has driven in 13 runs.

CHICAGO (A) - When it rains, it pours. Chicago (A)'s right-hander Bob Walk will not pitch for at least 5 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Seattle where he left the field in the 5th inning. Chicago (A) wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Walk had suffered a Strained Bicep Muscle. Opposing players hit .267 against Bob this season. While posting an ERA of 2.77 he went 1-2 in 4 starts, fanning 20 and walking 8 hitters.
