Well Braves fans, this last week has been the worst week for the Braves this season. As fans we've been kinda spoiled this year, and while 4-3 isn't horrible, it isn't what the team has been use to of late.
That said the Braves have a couple really hot pitchers, Smolts is 2-0 with a 1.27 era over his last three games, however, that pales compared to Fulgham... he's 3-0 with a 0.00 era and a shutout in his last three.
The AL East is still the most competitive division with 4 teams still jockeying for 1st week to week, though Cleveland and da Blue Jays currently hold the division each with 34 wins. The Yankees need to rallie if they are to continue their steak of winning the division every year of the 80's. Even if they don't they will be the AL team of the 80's with 9 AL East pennants and 2 WS during these feathered hair days.
The NL East still has every team over .500, alas Montreal has cooled considerably since they went on a 18-1 tear earlier in the season and were tied for 1st with a 20-9 record. With their lineup, the downturn is sure to only be short lived, and soon they will explode for another unprecedented run on wins.
In the AL Central, KC continues to hold Chi town and the Brewers at bay, but bot are a scant 3 games back with plenty of season left.
The NL Central, StL looks to shake things loose a bit with a couple trades to hopefully not lose any further ground, and reverse the current tract to cause a loosening of Pittsburgh's current lead, with the hopes of eventually regaining the lead in the division they enjoyed over the first month or so of the season.
Over in the AL West, Oakland has been on a recent hot streak of their own, closing what had once seemed an insurmountable lead by Texas to only 4 games putting them in striking distance, with better than 2/3 the season to go. Their recent trade will be interesting for the team to see what they will do without the pitchers they sent off to the Cards.
NL West has SF and LA finally breaking their mirrored records and SF continues their hot streak and finishes the month 18 - 10, and 10-4 in their last 14.
The #72 rock song of 89....
I remember my brother telling me that this song was how he felt about our father while it was on regular airplay... Thankfully by the time he was killed, he no longer felt that way.
