Well baseball fans the 3rd month of the season kicked off and the Braves went 5-2 that included 2 games against StL that had a combined score of 18-18 and each was decided by a run.
While most would think there were non-stop homers in those games, the reality was it was mainly small ball. in the 10-9 game StL hit 2 HR's and Atl had one, and in the 9-8 game, Atl had 1 and StL had 0.
John Smoltz pitched his first ever no hitter, which is only the 7th in Braves history, and 3rd since the new guy took over running the team. Earlier in the week Marty Bystrom from Houston also threw one so Smoltzies was the second of the year.
In the AL East, NYY road a 5 game winning streak to erase Toronto's 2 game lead and turned it into a one game lead for themselves. 4 teams are still above 500 and only separated by 5 games, with 100 games to go.
3 teams are within 4 games in the Central, but KCR seems to be intent on not letting anyone catch them this season.
Texas got way hot again, and rode a 7 games win streak into increasing their lead to 6 games over Oakland.
All of a sudden out in the NL West, San Fran has taken control and LAD has gone on a slide so what was just a couple weeks ago tie, is now a 7 game lead by the Giants.
Getting to the NL Central, Pittsburgh is still ruling the roost and there has been rumors coming out of StL that they may go back to rebuilding mode.
Atlanta is still leading the NL East, and for the first time one of the teams has a sub 500 record.
In the NL there are 2 pitchers with 12 wins, and in the AL the league leaders only have 8.
The race for Chipper still is being won by Boston, however Houston has cut the lead to 1 game, and Detroit is only 2 back.
The #63 rock song of 89. Gah, what a song, and the guitar riffs..
