SF Giants clinched the first spot for the postseason this past week in the least competitive division in baseball leading the second place Dodgers by 25 games.
The Braves look to clinch the East as their magic number is down to 1 and with 16 games to go they lead the race for homefield by 10 games.
Taking care of the East was the number one priority for the Braves this week, as they went 6-2 and continued to pull away from the mets, alas, their 2 losses were to the Giants.
While the Braves have been dominating the Mets all season long in the standing, the same is not true when they play head to head, as they are 7-7 against each other.
Since the Allstar break the Braves are 45-20, Giants 46-19, Royals 28-37, White Sox 40-25, NYY 45-20, BJays 42-23, and Balt 43-22.
The Giants went on a 73-31 tear since their 21-21 start, and seem to be repeating the same pattern as last year, starting slow and woopin up on everyone down the stretch.
The NL Central is still tighter than Shaq in a Fiat 500, and it's still anyone's guess if the Cards moves all season long will push them to the promised land, or if Pitt can ride their studs into another postseason, though with the losses of Crime Dog and Jeffcoat it seams less and less likely, though they have weathered the storm thus far and may be able to let Petry and Lewallyn give them one more shot at glory.
Over in the AL, there is far less drama, as Texas has a magic number of 6, the White Sox have it down to 9, and the Yanks are at 10, with just the scant 16 to go.
After Toronto beened McGuire, Oakland came alive and swept the Blue Jays, giving the Orioles the opening they needed and now the WC spot is all tied up, though Baltimore has a tougher road for its final 16.
