I'm sure it will surprise no one that the AL team of the decade is none other than the Yankees By the numbers, they were 1057-563, and 38.7 million people came out to the stadium to root their home town team on. They won the AL East 10 out of 10 and were 3-2 in WS play during the 80's. Their only shortcoming was they made 927 million and spent 101 million during the 80s. The question is, can they win the East 15 straight like the Angels did the AL West*? During the 80s the Yanks had 2 GMs with GM ChrisC stepping down for "family" reason but immediately took the job for the Twinks. The Yanks were best in the early to mid 80 in the postseason, winning it all in 82,84, and 86, though the season with their most wins was 82 winning 119. Their bane in the WS was the Dodgers that knocked them off in 83 and 87, that said they still did appear in 5 out of 6 WS 82-87 The #9 rock song from 89... well lets just say the 5 members of the band were possibly thee most influential people in the history of music. Trivia, which two were in the Petty video from a couple posts back? *included wining the west with a 77-85 record
