It's been a rough start to the 1990 season for the Milwaukee Brewers who compiled a 10-18 record in April and have put themselves in double digit games back hole in the AL Central. Hope remains though as the front office has pitching reinforcements on the way in veteran arms Rick Aguilera and Bill Landrum both expected to provide a boost. A rejuvenated pitching staff and a few of the rookies hitters turning the corner could put the Brewers right back in the pennant race.
Brewers Batter of the Month Robin Yount .363 3HR 13RBI 20R
Brewers Pitcher of the Month Steve Shields 4-2 50IP 1.98 ERA 7BB 56K
Rookie Report First baseman Tino Martinez arrived in the pros with a major league ready glove but his bat has yet to join him. Martinez has yet to homer in his young career but has showing an ability to draw a walk. Outfielder Jose Canseco must strive to be more patient in his approach if he hopes to stick to the big league roster all season. The young slugger did go yard 3 times in the month of April but his 40 strikeouts are what has the coaching staff ensuring he gets extra batting cage time.
