After 30 years the Giants have decided to make some changes at AT&T. AT&T opened in 1960 replacing the archaic Seals Stadium. New and flashy in 1960 AT&T is in need of a makeover in 1990. With the recent success and new stars in the fold team ownership decided the time was now. Construction should start in the offseason and hopefully be completed by Opening Day 1992. Because AT&T is already at maximum stadium capacity most of the changes will be cosmetic. Team owner Spencer Martin said " Were very happy with the playing field and dimensions, but we'd like to add some luxury boxes and more importantly a new scoreboard.
Luxury Boxes
The Luxury boxes will be a big hit. With multiple seats, an amazing view, bathrooms and a personal room attendant you'll be able to enjoy the game in style. There will be a special luxury box menu with a personal chef preparing dishes to order. Regular game standards like hot dogs and popcorn, but also a sushi bar, nachos and a taco bar will give it a food truck feel. Martin stated, "Food trucks are huge here in the city. Everyone loves them. We wanted to give the fans that type of feel here at the park."
The whole concession system will get a reboot as well. Just like the luxury boxes the old favorites will be available but new concessions with all types of food will be available Tacos, sushi, dumplings. A city known for its great cuisine will have that same feel at the ballpark. Martin said, " The fans deserve the extra options. We wont them to come here for the game, for the comfort and for the food!"
Scoreboard
First off, its huge. Martin says the scoreboard will be the largest in the league at completion. Not only will it have full stats, out of town scoreboard, replays but also a fan cam and video showing other local teams highlights. The scoreboard has been in the works for almost 5 years. The size is important because ownership wants to be be visible from all seats. The information is important because ownership wants all fans to be plugged in and connected to whats going on.
New Seats
Lower box seats no include these amazing brand new theater seats. Comfort and style is key here at AT&T moving forward. Warming and cooling options, 2 cup holders, and button for concierge service. Martin says, " We want the lower boxes to be comfortable yes, but we want the fan experience to be full. These seats allow for comfort and the ability to fully concentrate on the game without interruption."
The Stars
The Giants have focused on acquiring stars. First drafting Barry Bonds, Will Clark, Bryan Harvey and Mike Jackson. The trading for Kirby Puckett, Andres Galarraga, Lance Parrish, Scott Garrelts and Cecilio Guante. Martin says star power sells and that acquiring those stars is showing fans that they plan to win and win for awhile. Martin says "Barry and Will are our window for competition. That means we plan to compete until they retire. I want to win 96 plus games and be in the playoffs for the next ten years. And you can quote me on that!" This team is stacked with upper echelon talent. Now the question is, can they supplement it with some depth? martin pointed to expansion as one of the reasons for the recent flurry of moves. "We need to consolidate before the draft so we dont lose anyone we like. Our core 8 or 10 are elite. After that the talent level drops off. Its the plan." Only time will tell if the plan will work...
The Plan
This is from the HOFFBL constitution....
Stadium Renovation
Short of building a new stadium, there comes a time when a team needs to re-vitalize the image of the stadium and thus, the team. This allows a team to at least initially increase the marketability of the stadium to the region as well as to perk the interest of existing and possibly new fans, without the larger expense of building an entirely new stadium. To allow for flexibility, there will be three (3) tiers of renovation, with each level of work comes increased cost, but also increased rewards:
Level 1 - Concourse & Amenity Expansion: $50M; Fan Loyalty will increase one (1) slot to a maximum of Very Good and Fan Interest will increase by 20 up to a maximum of 70.
Level 2 - Level 1 + Seating & Luxury Box Upgrades: $80M; Fan Loyalty will increase two (2) slots to a maximum of Very Good and Fan Interest will increase by 30 up to a maximum of 75.
Level 3 - Complete Retro-fit & Exterior Work: $100M; Fan Loyalty will increase three (3) slots to a maximum of GREAT and Fan Interest will increase by 40 up to a maximum of 80.
Please note that, at minimum, Fan Loyalty will be set to Average.
- Teams may undergo stadium renovation once every five (5) seasons.
- Teams may combine Moving the Fences and/or Seating Expansion projects with the Stadium Renovation efforts.
- Teams should expect to pay 75% of the construction cost (see schedule detail at the end of this section).
- Teams and the Commissioner will negotiate a payment plan, up to five (5) years in length, to pay for the construction cost.
- Teams shall submit the official groundbreaking announcement for stadium renovation with the following information:
Option for Moving Fences | Option of Stadium Expansion | Level of Renovation Work | Total Construction Cost (to be verified) | Balance Remaining after 100% Stadium Account Withdrawal | Payment Plan | Minimum 750-Word Article

Giants plan do do level 3. All of the above improvements along with some exterior paint and ribbons. New parking spots. New access to public transit. 100 million dollar payment can be paid all at once. Giants fan interest is already over the maximum of 80 so that bump wont affect them much. Fan loyalty bumping up to great should be very helpful for the long term financial stability of the team. Money equals success in HOFFBL. Being able to earn 100 million a year is the goal. The plan is in motion. Can they make it work?
