In the AL Toronto, Chicago and California are still leading their divisions with the West being the closest at 8 games.
The wildcard derby is Seattle followed by Cleveland and Detroit one back, Texas 2 back, and New York 3 back.
Over in the NL, it is still Atlanta, San Francisco, and Pittsburgh leading the way, but with only a 4 game lead, Pittsburgh is not looking like a lock. The wildcard race is just in the East, as behind the 3 teams there, the closest is StL, that is 4 games behind Philadelphia, and 9 back from the front leading Mets.
The best teams in the league for pitching are
ERA ATL NYM CAL SFG PHI TOR CWS
OAVG ATL NYM SFG CAL CWS PHI DET
Runs TOR NYY CWS SFG KCR ATL CAL
AVG CWS NYY MON SEA CAL KCR OAK
What strikes me as interesting is the top teams in defense ratings all have winning records and are in the running for the WC position, where 2 of the top 5 offences for scoring runs are from teams with sub 500 records. The Mets with the #2 defense have the 6th best record in the league, where as the Yankees with the #2 offense have 12 teams in front of them with better records.
Teams on all 4 lists White Sox Angels
Teams on 3 of the 4 Blue Jays Braves Giants
In the not surprised as it should be obvious, if you are good at both offense and defense You might be leading your division. That said, in the previous 12 years the Braves have never been on the top 10 for runs scored or batting average.
and with that you've been....
the #49 rock song
