Hey Braves fans, this is the monthly show catching up everyone on the day to day of the Atlanta Braves.
For the month, they were 21-5 winning a blistering 80% of their games. This was done in part by having two of the best hitters in baseball, Julio Cruz and Stan Javier. For the month Julio hit .308 which was a sharp drop off from May when he hit .411. Stan Javier has been on fire during the month, batting .434. For Power, Horner and Brohard, each sent 5 to the bleachers.
Pitching is where the Braves really had it going, Gulgham went 5-1 3.00, Maddux 4-1 1.75, Smoltz 5-0 1.66, and Robinson was 4-2 0.66. Even the 5th starter Citarella finally got in on the fun with a 1 hit shutout.
Finally, while it's only been 7 games, Murphy looks like someone other than a pitcher again, after batting under .100 for over numerous weeks to start the season, the last week he batted .500 and smacked 2 dingers.
By the numbers;
Offensively the Braves are 8th in batting avg, Homeruns, runs scored, 9th in walks, and 3rd in steals.
Defensively they are 1st in ERA, OAVG, Runs Allowed, 3rd in walks allowed, but for whatever reason, the pitchers are giving up homers like politicians give up kisses for babies.
The Braves sent 6 players to the all star game, Smoltz, Maddux, Colbert, Cruz, Javier, and Brohard. Wtf the NL couch left Corbert in for 7 innings is beyond me, and I have to wonder if that had to do with his 7/4 negative PD
so the # 48 rock song of 90.... yeah not really rock...
Was very iconic of 1990, which is why including it here... that and it reminds me of back then.
