Hey Braves fans, while the heat is rising, so are the Braves! Going 18-6 which is above their season avg on the season, and 1/3 of the Braves team had to play an extra game on July 2nd.
Pitching has been the Braves bread and butter for over a decade, however, this year the offence has shown up and is making a slight difference, as no longer are the close games a 50-50 affair, so far they have been dropping in the Braves favor.
What is now a foregone conclusion Corbett will be the all time saves leader, having passed Lindy McDaniel for second, he now only needs 4 to tie, and 5 saves to claim the title of Mr Alltime ICE!
A long time worry of management about what they would do when Corbett retires in 4 years is who to replace him with, and that answer seems to have been this years 1st round draft pick Brad Holman. The youngster had great talent coming into the draft and has improved his control issues prior to the draft, and according to pitching coach Leo Mazzone, he's already noticed something he can help the kid with that should make his control even better.
While there is nothing that will ever replace the greatest save artist ever, Braves fans at least have a glimmer of hope, that there is gonna be someone to take the mound when Maddux and Smoltz might have an off night and need someone to come in in the 9th in years to come.
