After leading the league in wins for most of the season, Atlanta was unceremoniously bounced from the playoffs in the 1st round, and only the 2nd time they didn't advance to the NLCS in the 12 years they've made the playoffs under their GM BrianH.
While being very disappointed in having their only 3 game losing streak of the season, the Braves are regrouping for next year.
What seemed like a foregone conclusion, Greg Maddux won his first Cy Young award, with John Smoltz coming in the top 3 in voting also.
Doug Corbett, again lead the league in Saves, and posted the 4th best ever save total (Having the best save total of all time 2x and number 4 now).
After being runner up in HR totals 3 previous times, 1B Bob Horner finally is number 1 setting the pace with 35, which was also best in all of Baseball. Mark Brouhard was 2nd in the League with 32, giving the Braves the best 1 2 punch in all of baseball, unfortunately Brouhard went down with an injury right before the post season began.
For the first under BrianH the team had a batter in the top 5 for batting avg. Not only did they have 1, they had 3 of the top 4. Stan Javier batted .333, Cruz .329 and Roenicke .324. All three were also in the top 5 for OBP.
Roenicke and Horner also were in the top 10 in slugging. Brouhard was first in RBIs followed by Horner in 2nd place.
For runs scored, the Braves had 4 in the top 10: 4- Cruz, 6- UL Washington, 9 - Horner and Javier
1st 4th and 9th belong to the Braves in SB, with Cruz, Javier, and UL Washington.
When it comes to pitching, the Braves had 4 in the top 10 in Wins, with 86 wins by Maddux, Smoltz, Robinson, and Fulgham combined.
they has 2 of the top ten CG guys, 3 of the tops in shutouts and all 4 were in the top 10 with lowest ERA
The #3 rock song of 90
